Direct Company Support Scheme

The National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) has secured a substantial European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme which offers support to manufacturing in Yorkshire and the Humber. Part of this programme will offer up to 75% of the cost for experts to help regional companies to undertake development leading to tangible and real improvements in their business.

Virtually any regional company, large or small, with an idea that will help it grow would be eligible. Projects of any size can be considered but the focus is on short term, high impact changes and typically projects are in the range of £5,000 to £20,000. You will be connected to our large team of approved ‘solution providers’ who will work with you to bring your project to life and help you reap the benefits. Any proposal will be fully evaluated for both technical and financial feasibility to ensure it is both workable and will deliver the right level of benefit for your organisation.

The sorts of projects that will be considered are:

  • New product / process development
  • Improvements in products or processes – better, smaller, faster, cheaper…
  • Increase market share /penetration
  • Evaluation of new markets, new products, new services
  • Design of factory layout

However, these are just examples – this is about the right project to make the difference for you. We can also undertake collaborative projects – perhaps you have a supplier, customer or partner organisation you would like to be involved? Read some case studies about companies we’ve already helped.

To be eligible your organisation must be based in the Yorkshire and Humber region and you need to be within your ‘de minimis’ limits (don’t worry if you don’t know what this is, we can easily help you here).

Please note we cannot support companies manufacturing electronics, software or food and the funding can only be used to pay for the services of the solution provider.

Frequently asked questions:

I’ve seen these before – usually there is lots of paperwork and the decision takes forever!

We have made the application form as simple as possible – your company details, your project proposal, your chosen solution provider if you have one, how much the project will cost and what benefit you will gain. And if you need help, we have a team within NAMTEC who will work with you to get the paperwork complete. Decisions are quick – we aim to get you an answer within three weeks.

What if I need some help to formulate the project?

No problem. NAMTEC has a team of experienced staff who will work with you to examine your business and help you define the project.

Who are your ‘Solution Providers’?

We have assembled a broad team of individuals and organisations covering a breadth of manufacturing expertise including the region’s university base. Full details, including specific areas of expertise and capability, can be found in our Direct Company Support flyer.

What if these solution providers don’t have the expertise I need?

If this large team are not able to give you the support you need, we can help you find someone who can from across the length and breadth of the UK.

How do I get a project moving?

If you already have a firm project in mind then download the application form NOW. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss your idea or review what might be of value to your business contact Alan McLelland on 0114 222 4781 or email at alan.mclelland@namtec.co.uk .
