Basics of Structural Engineering

Venue:

Swinden House

Dates:

TBC

Cost:

£300+VAT

Description:

This is a one day workshop designed for people working in the materials development field. It introduces attendees to some of the important fundamentals of structural engineering. Although structural engineering is a mathematically sophisticated discipline a secure qualitative understanding of the principles can be gained quite readily. The course will equip attendees with a sound appreciation of the relationships between materials properties, structural function and structural form.

Who should attend
The workshop will be useful for materials engineers, materials scientists, technologists, researchers involved in developing improved materials for load bearing applications. It will be helpful to those who need to begin to understand why materials are used in certain ways for load bearing applications. It will also contribute to the broader perspective for those engaged in multi disciplinary activities such as failure investigation.
