Metallurgy of Special Steels, Nickel based Superalloys and Titanium Alloys for Gas Turbine Applications

Location:

NAMTEC Swinden House

Date:

02/10/08

Cost:

£275 + VAT

Description:

This is a one day workshop for people involved in the use or processing of these alloys. It covers the melting, processing, heat treatment and testing of Special Steels, Nickel and Cobalt based superalloys and Titanium alloys for gas turbine applications. The course will focus on the practical aspects of why they are used, how they are made and what problems can be encountered.

Who should attend
The course will be of benefit to those who are working, or are looking to work, in the manufacturing of these alloys for aerospace and industrial applications. It will be of particular benefit to those from technical or engineering backgrounds. Previous attendance on the Titanium and Nickel Metallurgy courses run by NAMTEC would be helpful as the metallurgy involved in this course is not at a basic level.

Speakers
Course Manager, Ken Wrigley is currently a consultant on metals processing issues. He is a career metallurgist with over 30 years experience in the provision of special metal products, particularly in the aerospace, off-shore, railway and general engineering sectors. In a career culminating as Technical Director of a number of forging companies he has experience of metals processing issues from melting to machining and from shop floor to boardroom. Ken has been an active member of BSI drafting committees, TIG, the Materials Forum and has presented on the Sheffield Universities MSc modules.
