Course Description:

NAMTEC are proud to introduce a members only networking lunch with a presentation by Marcos  Assayag,  Equipment & Logistics Procurement Manager from the London office of Petrobras, on “The Major Petrobras Deepwater Projects”. Also, we have the E&P London Office General Manager, Francisco Nepomuceno attending, giving an overview of the current situation.

Marcos Assayag graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1974 and has a specialization in Equipment Engineering. He gained an MBA in advanced management.

In January 2010 he was appointed to manage the activities related to new technologies for Equipment, Logistics and Engineering at the Petrobras E&P London Office, to be applied in E&P segment, with emphasis in Pre Salt Production Development in Brazil.

Assayag is the recipient of several awards including the 2007 “OTC Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals” for contributions to the offshore industry through efforts to develop and foster new technologies for deepwater production.  This was due to his work as leader of the successful PROCAP programs that allowed the company to produce in water-depths of 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) and set the foundation to allow production in the 3,000 meters (9840 feet) water-depth range.

In May 2010, he received from the President of Brazil, the National commendation medal of Scientific Merit for his contribution to developing deepwater oil production technologies.

Petrobras is the state-owned operator of the oil fields in Brazil which includes some of the deepest waters for offshore oil production. This is a great chance to find out about the market sector in Brazil and how to access those opportunities.

This presentation will show the Petrobras mega deepwaters E&P projects, the huge investments involved and the business opportunities that we will have in the upcoming years, especially in pre-salt fields. The main challenges regarding technological and commercial aspects will also be addressed.
