Recruitment Case Studies
The Client - Johnson Matthey
Johnson Matthey is a speciality chemicals company focused on its core skills in catalysis, precious metals, fine chemicals and process technology. Our client is from the Metal Joining Business Unit based in Royston, and as part of the Precious Metal Products Division of Johnson Matthey they are a global supplier of brazing filler metals, solders and fluxes. Metal Joining also supply industrial silver and base metal products such as electrical contact materials.
The Challenge – Technical and Quality Engineer
Johnson Matthey's success depends upon the skills, qualities and well being of their people and this is underpinned by the way in which they recruit and develop their employees worldwide. Future business growth is built around new technology and innovation and therefore they seek to employ the highest calibre technical candidates that also possess strong commercial skills. Such employees are often hard to come by; however as future managers they hold a key part in the long term success of the organisation. Identifying and attracting such people takes significant time and resource and our client had found it difficult to fill a 'Technical and Quality Engineer' vacancy which had been ongoing on for over eight months with no success. Filling this vacancy had started to take up a lot of valuable time of key people in the organisation and was holding back aspects of the business.
Our Approach
NAMTEC received the job specification and through close communication with the client quickly understood their business culture helping us to identify the most suitable candidates. Through our rigorous attraction and selection process we brought together a shortlist of eight candidates meeting their requirements, all within two weeks. Following first and second interviews, Johnson Matthey had enough information to make a decision and offer a contract to the successful candidate.
Positive Impact
NAMTEC's Technical Recruitment team delivered an outstanding candidate in William, who is an excellent fit with the organisation. The impact this had on the Metal Joining Division of Johnson Matthey is significant;
A number of people can now focus their time on immediate duties, saving both time and money. They have identified a hard working, intelligent new employee that will prove to be an excellent return on investment. NAMTEC took away the stress of finding the right candidate filling the vacancy within 5 weeks.
Client's Feedback
'We were very happy with the service provided by NAMTEC. We found it difficult to access a sufficient number of good quality materials science graduates to run a meaningful interview programme before involving NAMTEC. They gave us a good selection of CVs and advised us to include the candidate we ultimately chose in our first interviews because they thought that he'd be a good fit with our requirements and culture. I found NAMTEC's approach to be thorough and refreshingly professional. They certainly know their candidate and work hard to understand their clients.'
