NAMTEC has extensive experience in the development and delivery of technology transfer projects within the metals and manufacturing sector. Our wide ranging expertise covers metals production and processing, modelling & simulation, surface engineering, powder metallurgy and rapid manufacturing.
NAMTEC uses a well established technology transfer methodology to deliver business benefit. This involves working in close partnership with both regional and national technology providers in supporting the delivery of business best practise to companies. Programmes typically involve the delivery of a series of targeted workshops and seminars followed up by one-on-one engagements. These follow up activities consist of a preliminary Product and Process Review followed by a longer term Innovation Support intervention; where interventions are delivered by either NAMTEC or one of its technology partners.
NAMTEC's technology transfer programme has brought benefits to a wide range of UK companies. The benefits include:
- Increasing sales and profitability
- Increasing manufacturing and engineering performance and efficiency
- Increasing productivity and product quality
- Improving engineering capabilities, knowledge and skills
- Introducing new products and processes
- Reducing or eliminating technical or financial risk
- Reducing manufacturing costs
- Reducing inventory and logistical costs
One example of our technology transfer activities is the Yorkshire Forward funded Technology Transfer Programme. This programme provides a support centre which draws upon expertise from within a number of Capacity Building Centres (CBCs). These CBCs include the Design, Modelling and Simulation Centre (DMS), the Surface Engineering Group (SEG), the Innovative Metal Processing Centre (IMP-C) and the Rapid Manufacturing Programme (RAMP).
