      <description>&lt;p&gt;We are delighted that The Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms, Minister of State for Competitiveness, for the Department of Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, will be officially launching the Special Metals Forum on the 6th December 2007. The launch will be held at the National Metals Technology Centre, Swinden House, Rotherham. We would be delighted if you can join us for this high profile event, which will provide the opportunity to meet other companies within the Special Metals Sector and to discuss key issues with the Minister.&lt;br /&gt;An outline agenda is attached for your information.       <title>Technology of Cutting Edges Seminar</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Cutting edges have an essential role in modern life, ranging from domestic cutlery and craft tools to the processing of food, packaging and manufactured goods. Advanced manufacturing technologies support the continued development of improved edge performance and working life. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This successful seminar&amp;nbsp;was held Wednesday 14th May at the National Metals Technology Centre, it&amp;nbsp;included presentations covering materials, heat treatment, sharpening and testing of cutting edges. The application of technologies such as advanced coatings, powder metallurgy, laser deposition and hardening were also covered.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>Innovations in wear and corrosion control</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;If your products or processes are subject to wear and/or corrosion then this session of talks will offer solutions using the latest surfacing techniques&lt;br /&gt;available to industry. This seminar will include presentations covering the&lt;br /&gt;latest techniques in electron beam physical vapour deposition (EBPVD), a novel to the UK method of Internal Surface CVD coating application and Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation. The day will start with registration at 10am and&lt;br /&gt;finish at approx 2.30pm.       <title>SOL-GEL Coatings Launch</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Recently, researchers at the Materials &amp;amp; Engineering Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University have made a breakthrough in the development of hybrid sol-gels, which contain both inorganic and organic components&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Delegates attended the launch event which was held on the 22nd of April at Sheffield Hallam University, Materials Research Institute. Presentations were followed by a tour of the Sol-Gel Lab and also an optional tour of MERI.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</description>
