Our first participation was with NAMTEC's standard program of short technical courses. We sought to enhance the skills and technical knowledge of the staff that we sent on these courses, and we continue to achieve this through ongoing engagement in the program. Feedback from those attending these courses continues to be very positive, adding to staff commitment as well as the direct knowledge benefit.
From this foundation, we have branched out in the last few years. First we asked
NAMTEC to adapt standard courses into bespoke ones delivered in-house. The most successful example of this so far has been to take the Nickel Metallurgy and Titanium
Metallurgy courses and adapt them to emphasise rolling and finishing processes and flat products applications. We were impressed not only with the tailored outcome but also with the methodical and co-operative way that NAMTEC staff developed the material, and liaised with us to ensure its suitability for our needs.
Most recently, we have taken the step of engaging NAMTEC in the training of our own customers. Starting with an international project in late 2005, classroom training of mill process technicians can now be based on a course developed and delivered by NAMTEC. It's based partly on material that we supplied, but was also supplemented by NAMTEC's own sector experts. The quality of this course is enhancing our business reputation, and I feel that today we have made the step into a knowledge partnership, one in which training is just a part, with a thoroughly professional and respected organisation. I would certainly recommend any metals sector company to take a close look at NAMTEC's technical training capability, both in the standard short courses and in creating and delivering bespoke ones."
